Kate Hudson is an accomplished actor, most famous for her character Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which brought her an Academy Award nomination. She was born into the family of movie stars and seemed to have a natural talent to be in the spotlight. Her mother, Goldie Hawn, is well-known for her film acting, and her father, Bill Hudson, is a comedian. She loved performing since she was a child and would jump at the opportunity to dance or sing on the stage. As a child, her parents provided dance classes and she studied at the Santa Monica Playhouse. She started acting in 1996 after she received a character in the TV drama Party of Five. She was accepted into New York University, but Kate Hudson was more interested in seeking a job in show business rather than earning an education. After acting in some minor films, she landed the role that would turn out to be a breakthrough role in her professional career. She was chosen to play Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. In spite of being a film that failed at the box office it received positive critiques from critics, and it established Kate as an actress within the American film industry.
