Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children who would grow up in the same household, figured out very early how to get out of her difficulties through her vibrant and vivid imagination. Before learning how to read or write, Dolly Parton was creating her own songs. After getting her first instrument at age of eight, she started performing on local radio stations from Knoxville in Tennessee. The following year, she made her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. Even though she became an established local celebrity while at the high school years, her goals were bigger. After graduating from high school in 1964 she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. In the year 1967, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his television show that was syndicated. Parton was hired in the year 1966. She joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. In 1974, she quit Wagoner's Show because the success of her singles like Joshua Coats Of Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached No. This was the first time a single reached No.
