In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track during the course of six months. In 2020, a few Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the trend of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution. The genre often incorporated electronic dance and other styles.
