Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle includes football scholarship, family service and community involvement. The first time Selmon was born by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on a farm near Eufala located in Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. He played football alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the United States. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. The National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. He was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the most prominent young people in America. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as player, commanded his team during the season of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
